   Problem Solving

With DIVE INSTRUCTORS ACADEMY the Snorkelling is easy and most snorkellers never experience any serious problems. There are small things that might annoy rather than alarm snorkellers like the below listed small problems. 1.Flooded snorkel 2.Flooded mask 3.Cramp 4.Current 5.Foggy mask .Flooded snorkel The most common reason for a flooded snorkel is that the snorkeller has submerged the top of the snorkel and thereby flooding it. To clear a flooded snorkel, simply exhale a short, powerful burst of air into the snorkel. That should clear it completely. If there is any water remaining, repeat the procedure. A snorkel that has a valve at the bottom is much easier to keep clear of water. .Flooded mask Even though you took care in choosing a properly fitting mask, it can still get flooded. One common reason is that the mask is placed too high on your face. Move it down, with the soft skirt closer to your upper lip. Another reason is that there’s hair, eyebrows or a moustache between the mask and your face. To clear a flooded mask, simply exhale through your nose while holding the top of the mask firmly against your face. Another way is to tilt the mask away from the face and allow the water to exit at the bottom. .Cramp A tight fin, forceful swimming or wrong swimming technique could cause a cramp. Cramps mostly occur in the calf muscle or the foot. If this happens, just grab the tip of your fin with one hand, and stretch your leg as much as you can. Hold it for a moment until the cramp is gone. .Current Never try to swim against a strong current. You will easily tire and soon be exhausted. To get out of a current swim straight across it or diagonally across it. .Foggy mask Every now and then your mask might fog up, especially if the mask is new, even though you de-fogged it before entering the water. If this happens leak some water into the mask. Look down and let the water clean the lenses, then empty the mask again. If the problem persists, clean your mask with soap or dishwashing liquid before snorkelling again. Don’t touch the inside of your lenses with suntan lotion on your hands. The grease will quickly cause the mask to get foggy.
